During my first “skim-thru” I thought there was some things i might use at some point, but the REAL MIRACLE happened when I sat down and read it in chronological order, and took the time to do the exercises. I was perplexed as to how this could happen. I consider myself a “right brain” writer, and study a lot of story structure and formulas. I couldn’t grasp how these exercises would get a good story out of me, but they did just that. Images seemed to leap onto the page (and my computer screen) very quickly, and within 15 minutes, I had a first draft of a story, complete with developed characters, rising action, conflict and climax. That has never happened before. This experience repeated again and again, and has really helped catapult my writing to a different level. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! Can I explain how the exercises get the results? No! Do I care? No! I just know I’m just writing better and faster.
