New books from students & clients, Bravo!
As a good midwife, I am especially pleased when I receive newly published books in the mail written by former students, Way of Story participants, and/or writing clients.
Recently, Valarie Temple sent me The Mud Witch Boy, a delightful children’s book for all ages with her poignant illustrations. Valerie was both a Way participant and later a client. She gifted me with a full page thanking me.
This week, Meg Robinson, who took The Way of Story at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, four years ago, sent me her new book, Drawn by a Star: Adventures in Patagonia. I plan to read it this month. She inscribed a quote from me in the front of the book, “Your job as author is to find the story within the story.” and wrote me a lovely personal note, “Your wisdom was behind every page of this book, driving me to look deeper, always looking for the story within the story.”
One may not get rich teaching or leading workshops, but here is an example of the real rewards. To help birth someone’s story – often a story lying deep within, dormant for years.
“I’ve never met a person who didn’t have at least one story waiting to be born.”
